Young people have a right to the information and services they need to make responsible decisions about their lives.
Since the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in 1994, the international community has consistently reaffirmed the right of young people to appropriate reproductive health information and services that safeguard their rights to privacy, confidentiality, respect and informed consent. It has also reaffirmed that the rights and responsibilities of parents to provide guidance in such matters should not prevent young people from having access to the information and services they need to enjoy good reproductive health.
